IPs present health roadmap

Maitum vice mayor bids farewell

MAITUM, Sarangani (June 30, 2016) - Outgoing Vice Mayor Jeanne Ablog presides over the adjournment sine die of the Sangguniang Bayan on June 28. The Sangguniang Bayan legislators have passed numerous important resolutions and ordinances during their term which helps to address problems and promote the general welfare, development and attain the vision of the Local Government Unit for its citizens. Mayor Balazon ends 3.5 days term

MAITUM, Sarangani (June 30, 2016) - Mayor Tito Balazon Sr. (center) congratulates outgoing Municipal Councilor Jess Bascuna after his speech during the adjournment sine die of the Sangguniang Bayan on June 28. Bascuna was one of the elected board members of the first district of Sarangani. He first dedicated his success to his mother who was present at the session and to God. "She has been my shock absorber during my campaign and to God Almighty, the source of everything," Bascuna said. Balazon had been declared winner of the mayoralty race in the May 2013 elections by RTC Judge Oscar Noel. Balazon had filed an electoral protest contesting the proclamation of votes received by George C. Perrett, now deceased, from Barangay Tuanadatu. Sarangani can pilot MNCHN

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (June 30, 2016) - Zuellig Family Foundation president Professor Ernesto Garilao graces Sarangani's 1st Indigenous Peoples (IP) Health Summit Tuesday, June 28. In his speech, Garilao revealed that annual deaths in the Philippines are estimated to be at 3,000 which are reportedly usually coming from the "IP sector who by and large ay malayo and may kahirapan." This IP Maternal in Newborn Care Health and Nutrition (MNCHN) program launched in Sarangani, according to him, is being crafted to "further avoid deaths." Balazon is Maitum mayor until June 30

MAITUM, Sarangani (June 28, 2016) - Former Vice Mayor Tito Balazon speaks before municipal officials and employees Monday, June 27, after having been declared winner of the mayoralty race in the May 2013 elections by RTC Judge Oscar Noel. Balazon had filed an electoral protest contesting the proclamation of votes received by George C. Perrett, now deceased, from Barangay Tuanadatu. Balazon, who was elected vice mayor in the May 9, 2016 elections, was installed and sworn into office by the punong barangay of Sison, Ramil Tugade, and witnessed by punong barangays Manuel Nonat and Bernie Pascua of Pangi and New La Union, respectively. New Maitum police chief takes over

MAITUM, Sarangani (June 28, 2016) - Police Senior Inspector Rodel Gimepino Javison assumes as new municipal chief of police replacing Police Senior Inspector Jaime Dy Chavez during the flag ceremony at the Municipal Hall Monday, June 27. Javison was a former chief on Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Force, chief of Human Rights Office and Investigation Branch of Sarangani Provincial Police Office and an awardee as Best Junior Non-Commissioned Officer and Country's Outstanding Policeman in Service 2016 when he was assigned at Police Station 2, General Santos City. He also launched the 21st Police Relations Month with the theme "Matatag na Ugnayan, Ligtas na Pamayanan" which follows Presidential Proclamation No. 764 declaring the month of July as Police Community Relations Month. This aims to develop strategic communication programs to make the Municipal Police Station closer to the community. Jovino envisions the local police to have an enhanced individual capability on information, operation and management. ALABEL, Sarangani (June 27, 2016) – “Sarangani, we are destined for greatness.” This was the bold statement of Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon stirring up momentum for development initiatives as he took Wednesday (June 22) his oath of office for a second term.

The governor was sworn in with Senator-elect Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, Congressman-elect Ruel Pacquiao and other local officials from Sarangani and General Santos City in the presence of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

Governor Solon’s remarks came ahead of the arrival of Duterte who delivered his speech during the historic event, "Convergence: The Inaugural Ceremony of a United Sarangani and General Santos".

ALABEL, Sarangani (June 27, 2016) – President-elect Rodrigo Duterte graced Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao’s oath-taking ceremony on Wednesday (June 22) as Region 12’s first Senator.

In the midst of his speech, Pacquiao publicly declared allegiance to the incoming President as he pointed out support to the succeeding administration’s advocacies on “death penalty, federalism and national security.”

“This afternoon, I declare wholehearted support to Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” Pacquiao said.

It was Duterte’s second visit to Sarangani. On November 27, 2015, Duterte delivered a speech in the same venue during the Munato Festival and 23rd Foundation Anniversary of Sarangani a few hours after his lawyer filed his certificate of candidacy for president in Intramuros.
