The event attended by Vice Governor Elmer de Peralta was participated in by over 150 regional, provincial, local government employees, elementary and high school students and KABALIKAT Civicom. GLAN, Sarangani (July 22, 2016) — Drug users and pushers who will take up their old ways again after vowing to turn over a new leaf have nothing to worry about, at least as far as funeral expenses are concerned, should they wind up kicking the bucket instead of kicking the habit.
“If they abide by the terms and conditions of their surrender, the local government will do whatever it takes to help them start a new life. If not, sorry, but their family will be spared the funeral expenses,” said Mayor Victor James B. Yap, Sr. at the launching of the “Revitalization of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs)” at the Municipal Gym on Wednesday (July 20).
The event was witnessed by top officials of the local government, police, and national agencies. The gym was packed by a total of 1,693 self-confessed drug users and pushers who took an Oath of Allegiance to stop their vices and refrain from their nefarious activities after voluntarily surrendering to their respective BADACS in the 31 barangays of the municipality.
