Barangay Kiayap now certified ZOD

MAITUM, Sarangani (September 27, 2016) - The Rural Health Unit led by Dr. Junie Basmillo, in partnership with JinkeeNation, holds an awarding ceremony of Barangay Kiayap as one of the Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) practicing barangays at the Municipal Hall on September 19. Also in photo are Vice Mayor Tito Balazon Sr., Councilor Josefina Marasigan (Committee on Health and Sanitation chair), municipal employees, Municipal and Barangay Sanitary Task Force officials and staff. Together with JinkeeNation and its partners, ZOD aims to eliminate cases of diarrhea and cholera by providing toilets to the households in barangays and to stop the unhealthy practice by end of 2016. Maitum lauds KALAHI-Cidss

MAITUM, Sarangani (September 27, 2016) - Municipal Planning and Development Officer Laarni Nagal expresses her gratitude to Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI-Cidss) staff during the Bayani Ka Awards 2016 held at Pearl Garden on September 17. The event was participated in by municipal department heads, Bayani Ka awardees, barangay Officials and Sub Project Management Council of 19 barangays. Nagal described the KALAHI-Cidss staff as heroes who have offered and devoted their time and effort in facilitating community development projects especially in far flung barangays of Maitum. Sarangani, WBCP conduct raptor migration study

Birding season in Sarangani

Maitum holds child summit

MAITUM, Sarangani (September 13, 2016) – A student-facilitator from Edenton Mission College Incorporated (EMCI) helps the students to make their outputs during the 1st Child Protection and Nutrition Advocacy Summit held at Malalag National High School covered court on September 9. The event was participated in by over 181 elementary and high school students. One of the activities was a group discussion where they shared issues, problems, ideas and solutions affecting early childhood development and awareness of child's rights and needs. Sarangani, WBCP conduct raptor migration study

GLAN, Sarangani (September 12, 2016) – The Wild Bird Club of the Philippines (WBCP) and provincial technical working group (TWG) are set to conduct a confirmatory raptor migration study in Sarangani from September 15 to October 22.

The Capitol-based Environmental Conservation and Protection Center (ECPC), secretariat of the TWG created by Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, has conducted site reconnaissance for the arrival of the migratory birds of prey this month.

“They will approach our country in September and October to warm up and look for roosting sites after leaving Taiwan,” said Felix Servita of Wild Bird Club of the Philippines. “They will leave there for autumn migration, go here and soon depart for Indonesia.”
