Rural Tourism

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 6, 2016) - Provincial Tourism Council (PTC) president Michelle L. Solon talks about Rural Tourism in the State of Hawaii during their study grant sponsored by Asian Productivity Organization (APO) of the Development Academy of the Philippines. The similarity of the tri-culture of Hawaii and Sarangani province is not far different. The idea of the Tourism branding of Hawaii can also be applied in Sarangani. Hawaiian greetings "Aloha" means love, affection, greeting, salutation or hello! Solon came up with the idea of having a provincial greeting for Sarangani Province, "Fye Kakel", which is a Blaan word that means welcome. "Bong Fye Kalel", also a Blaan phrase, means big thanks. These greetings are proposed by Solon to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to be made into an ordinance. (Martin Fernando E. Bernad Jr. /SARANGANI TOURISM AND INVESTMENT PROMOTION CENTER)
