MSU biology students study Tuka Marine Park

KIAMBA, Sarangani (March 2, 2017) - As part of their thesis study, 4th year marine biology students of MSU Gensan are doing a field study in Tuka Marine Park. The field study consists of several scuba diving excursions to survey the overall status of Tuka's coral reef. The second part of their study involves further dives to install artificial reef structures where the students will attach what they refer to as “corals of opportunities”. These “corals of opportunities” are corals which are already having difficulty surviving due to natural or man-made circumstances. Reattaching these corals to makeshift reefs would increase the corals' chance of living. (Avery Rotciv Valois Camposano /KIAMBA INFORMATION OFFICE)
