Rescue volunteers graduate

MAITUM, Sarangani (April 9, 2017) - Rescue volunteers finish three days of Basic Emergency Response Training held at the Municipal Gymnasium on March 29. The training produced 29 volunteer-rescuers from their respective barangays to prevent further casualties and damages from disasters and educate people about the importance of preparedness during calamities. Rabies Awareness Program

KIAMBA, Sarangani (April 9, 2017) - Representatives from the provincial and municipal health offices together with the municipal veterinary office hold an educational presentation as part of their Rabies Awareness Program. The presentation took place in Badtasan Elementary School on March 27 and involved several videos which educated the students about the Rabies virus and showed the steps we can take to spot, prevent and neutralize the deadly disease. Philippine Red Cross gathers blood

KIAMBA, Sarangani (April 9, 2017) – Participants from different agencies and residents gather in Lourdes Park on March 29 to donate blood for this quarter's bloodletting activity. It was sponsored by the local barangay leadership together with the Municipal Health Office and Philippine Red Cross. Bida ang Handa

KIAMBA, Sarangani (April 9, 2017) - LGU employees participate in the 1st Quarter Earthquake Drill of 2017 as their way of showing support to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's project for disaster preparedness themed Bida ang Handa. In this activity on March 31, government employees ducked, covered, and held just like they would if a real earthquake had happened. KIAMBA, Sarangani (April 9, 2017) - Joint teams from the Municipal Health Office through Dr. ­­­­­Claresse Ann Leal Bautista–Doctors to the Barrio-DOH, Jonathan Hilario (RMT) and the PHO-Provincial Mosquito Borne Disease Cluster-Tropical Disease Prevention and Control Project (TDPC) supervised by Federico P. Yadao (RMT), project coordinator, conducted a Malaria Border Operation in Sitio Kapanal, Gasi, along the borders of Kiamba and Tboli on March 21-22. Medical Consultation, distribution of treated bednets, Tutok Buntis, Filaria Diagnosis and other health activities were provided in the area. The Provincial Health Office along with the MHO and other partners will continue to provide basic health services to the most remote barangays in the province. (Federico P. SP receives Army commander

Angcao (center), 73rd Infantry Battalion commander, pays a courtesy call during the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) on April 4. Sarangani fast tracks SAAD implementation

MAITUM, Sarangani (April 8, 2017) – Farmers gather before provincial agriculture office staff in Barangay Upo on April 7 as the provincial government hastens its implementation of the diversified upland rice farming development project, a food sustainability intervention of the Department of Agriculture called Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program. SAAD is focusing on 10 priority provinces as part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s thrust to increase food production and alleviate poverty in these poorest provinces in the country where each would benefit from P100 million worth of livelihood projects. GENERAL SANTOS CITY (April 8, 2017) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon presents Sarangani’s preparedness initiatives during the first Provincial Preparedness and Partnership Dialogue on April 6 where he takes pride of the recent award of being the Best Prepared Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council in Region 12. Malungon was second in the municipal level while Barangay Calabanit, Glan was first in the barangay level. Sarangani has consistently reaped the award for the past four years.
