Sec. Briones briefed on Flalok Project

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (June 15, 2017) – Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones is the key speaker during the dinner presentation of the Flalok project of the Alcantara Foundation held at the Sarangani Highlands on June 13. Sec. Briones emphasized the importance of education as the biggest network organization including the education for indigenous peoples. The Flalok project’s goals are to increase adult and early graders’ literacy among Blaan communities by promoting a culture of reading using Flalok storytelling. LGU Kiamba brings services to barangays

KIAMBA, Sarangani (June 15, 2017) – In Barangay Tamadang, LGU employees offer services on June 14 like dental checkup, blood testing and blood typing from the MHO, registration for certificates like birth certificates, residence certificates, and marriage certificates and information campaigns from the solid waste management office, Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Timpuyugan sa Barangay

Kids get care packs from DOLE

KIAMBA, Sarangani (June 14, 2017) - Students from Tabutong Elementary School in Barangay Nalus receive care packages consisting of school supplies, umbrellas, raincoats, and hygiene products from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional office on June 12 as part of the observance of the World Day Against Child Labor. MALUNGON, Sarangani (June 14, 2017) – Four centenarian residents here have each received P100,000 cash gift from the government.

Sarao Lavena Banes, regional focal person on social pension of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), said the release of P400,000 to Tinglo Tali, 107 years old; Teodolfo Conception, 103; Maria Palomo, 103; and Rofu Alipoyo, 102, of Barangays JP Laurel, Datal Batong, Upper Biangan and Poblacion, respectively, was part of the newly approved mandates that are being specified under R.A. 10868.

R.A. 10868, otherwise known as the Centenarian Act of 2016, directs for centenarians here in the country and abroad to receive P100,000 after reaching the century old age.
