MALUNGON, Sarangani (November 15, 2018) – Mayor Maria Theresa “Tessa” Constantino, with Municipal Administrator-designate Jessie dela Cruz, spearheads the planting of bamboo seedlings along the banks of Upper Lumabat river on November 8 to rehabilitate the critical riverbanks that for the past years have become a source of flash flood at the lowlands. LDRRMO head staff Mai Mosquera Fernando said the planting of some 5,000 bamboo seedlings at the stretch of about 4.2 kilometers was also participated in by the local police, Agri-Department headed by Agriculturist Nelson Sadang, and Barangay Council members.

Constantino thanked the close participation of locals who will be tasked to take charge of the newly planted trees. Constantino and Barangay Captain Jhumbrey Miguel signed the MOA for the Bamboo Growing Project that is not just for flood protection, but also will serve as an income generating project for current and the incoming generations.
