Demand for Sinamay products up

KIAMBA, Sarangani (November 23, 2016) – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial director Engr. Nenita Barroso (2nd from right), Board Member – IPMR Fulung Fredo Basino (right) and Board Member Jong Falgui (left) inspect the Abaca fiber stock at the United Maligang Farmers Cooperative (UMFC) store house in Barangay Maligang on November 21. The two board members were the guest speakers for the opening of the four-day Skills Upgrading Training on Sinaway Weaving on November 21-24 conducted by UMFC in collaboration with the DTI and MLGU Kiamba for the women members of the cooperative due to high demand for Sinamay products such as bouquet flowers, table runners and hats. Recently, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the application for accreditation of UMFC. Maligang has a 94% indigenous people population. (Ener T. Toguin for SARANGANI INFORMATION OFFICE)
