Sarangani police office ranks No. 1 in Region 12; heightens Covid-19 drive

ALABEL, Sarangani (May 15, 2020) – Amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Sarangani Provincial Police Office (PPO) sustained its performance as first in rank among all the cities and provinces in Region 12 in terms of operational and administrative accomplishments.

This is part of the regional evaluation of all provincial and city police offices through a monthly assessment based on several criteria including crime rate, crime solution, intelligence gathering, operational strategies, search and arrest warrants and submission of reports.

“Every month we are being evaluated in our performance both in operation and administrative, we are proud to announce that Sarangani Police Provincial Office has been number one since December 2019 until April of this year,” said PCol. Lex Ephraim Gurat, provincial director.

“In operational,” Gurat said, “we are being evaluated based doon sa mga naso-solve na krimen, sa mga nahuhuli at nakukulong natin, and yung compliance natin doon sa mga PRRD directives lalong lalo na sa drugs.”

“Sa administrative naman, we gained 100% rating during the evaluation,” Gurat disclosed on May 13 during the “Turnover and Distribution Ceremony” of the financial aid and additional relief items to the seven towns of Sarangani.

Gurat also recognized the efforts of all the police officers because “hindi ito magiging successful kung hindi dahil sa buong mga kapulisan natin from the accomplishments of the PHQ, and even doon sa mga pulis natin sa munisipyo na talagang sumuporta at nagpatupad ng batas.”

“The accomplishments are done by our police officers manning on the ground at kami lang ang nagre-report,” said Gurat.

“Ang trabaho lamang ng Provincial Director ninyo bilang isang ama ng mga police ay gumabay, to remind, to supervise, to follow up the directives galing sa itaas and to monitor yung compliance.”

Gurat said the accomplishment was not possible because of the police officers alone. “This achievement of the province was made possible dahil sa pagtutulungan ng bawat mamamayan sa pagpapanatili sa Sarangani bilang isang mapayapang probinsya. We have to sustain this,” Gurat appealed.

During the turnover and distribution rites, Gurat said the province’s current situation in this time of pandemic is an additional challenge to sustain the said accomplishment for the next months.

He said “sa panahon ngayon, ng dahil sa COVID-19 mas nadagdagan ang aming trabaho.”

“We have added checkpoint personnel manning the border entries of our province to guard us lalong-lalo na sa panahon ngayon na may pandemic.”

Gurat reported “sa Siguil (Maasim) po maglalagay tayo ng platoon composed of 40 personnel and as of this time ayos na po ang lahat, nagawan na ng barracks at sa mga susunod na araw ay magsisimula na po sila sa pagbabantay.”

“But,” Gurat said, “kahit hindi kayo parte ng kapulisan, may malaking ambag kayong magagawa to help Sarangani maintain its COVID-free status at para matulungan yung ating mga kapulisan through following the rules and measures na ipinapatupad ng ating probinsya kontra COVID-19.”

Sarangani PPO has also launched different operation plans (OpLan) to assist and serve the public against COVID-19.

Gurat also mentioned Sarangani PPO has Oplan Sita.

Gurat also clarified the barangay captains have the authority to regulate the “Oplan Sita.”

(Joshua John Pantonial/SARANGANI PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE)
