In the agreement, the project aims to establish 80 housing units for each of barangays Tamadang in Kiamba, Poblacion in Maasim, and Kapatan in Glan.
“Families residing in danger areas, such as those living in shorelines, affected by the infrastructure projects of the municipality, those with court orders for eviction and other urban poor families who qualify for relocation and resettlement under Republic Act 7279,” are the target beneficiaries of the project.
The project is in pursuant to Executive Order No. 90 dated December 17, 1986 “mandating the NHA as the sole production agency to meet the housing needs of low-income and marginalized families.”
According to Madlos, “out of the 11 housing projects in Region XII to be implemented for 2021,” three projects go to Sarangani.
Congressman Pacquiao, through his Ronda Probinsya program, spearheaded the ceremonial MOA signing between parties involved on March 25 at the Capitol gym.
“Thank you to our Regional Manager Engr. Erasme Madlos of NHA XII and District Manager Engr. Rizalino Cabahug. Thank you so much for working so hard na maging priority ang Sarangani. Thank you sa support and rest assured na kami na mga officials ng probinsya patuloy na magkakaisa at magtutulungan para sa mga programa ng nasyonal at lokal na pamahalaan,” Pacquiao said in his message during the MOA signing.
He also thanked the mayors of the different LGUs for their continued efforts in “finding ways to end the problem of homelessness in your respective localities.”
He further said that “adequate and decent housing has become an indispensable part of social justice in our jurisdiction and is a basic human right of every Filipino family.”
Madlos, on the other hand, lauded the active participation of all the local and provincial officials of Sarangani in forging partnership for development, and thanked the support of the congressman.
“Lahat ng LGU ng Sarangani province, nakapag-avail na po ng mga programa ng NHA, ganun kaaktibo ang Sarangani,” Madlos said.
“Cong, we’re very grateful na kahit MOA signing pa ito, nandito ka,” she added.
The ceremonial MOA signing was also witnessed by Vice Governor Elmer de Peralta, who represented Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, the rest of the municipal mayors and vice mayors, municipal councilors, and provincial government department heads.
