Malapatan cooperative finally gets modernized PUJ

MALAPATAN, Sarangani (June 16, 2021) – Malapatan Drivers Operators Transport Cooperative (MDOTC) acquires its first brand new unit of a modernized Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ). This P3-million PUJ was an upshot of the Department of Transportation’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) launched in 2017 whose main objective is to make the country's public transportation system efficient and environmentally friendly. On June 14, Virgilia Bendulo (left), MDOTC chairperson, and Merly Nebres (right), Sarangani Transport Alliance for Reform and True Development (STARTeD) chairperson, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the MDOTC office. According to Nebres, the cooperative has nine more units set to be delivered by the supplier soon as the documents are completely processed. She said they are also currently working on all the documents and processes needed to make all the transport groups in Sarangani compliant of the PUVMP. Bendulo, on the other hand, thanked the Provincial Government of Sarangani under the leadership of Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta, Deputy Speaker Congressman Ruel Pacquiao and with the full support of all Sangguniang Panlalawigan members for assisting the cooperative in processing the needed documents.
