Level III water system brings in abundance of potable water

ALABEL, Sarangani (March 25, 2022) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon led the inauguration ceremony of the P1.5-M Level III water system at Barangay Baluntay in Alabel on March 18. Baluntay Barangay Captain Rais T. Bisaya said the water system would not only cater to the need of stable water supply of the approximately 70 families residing at Purok 3 where the project is sited, but would as well provide potable water to all households in puroks 6, 1, 4 and 5.

As per criteria of the Philippine Statistics Authority, a Level III water supply is suited for densely populated areas and the source has passed the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water.

A Level II water system was also constructed in the barangay in 2016 which amounted to P1M and also funded under the provincial government’s 20% Development Fund.

The newly-inaugurated water system is an addition to the 52 water system projects implemented during the tenure of Governor Solon since 2013 which addressed the inadequate supply of safe and potable water in some communities in Sarangani.

From the total P3,554,963,369.30 spent for infrastructure projects under Governor Solon’s Sulong Imprastraktura program from 2013 to 2021, a sum of P88,180,499.21 was spent for water system projects.

A P2-M 1.2km stretch of road with 46 posts of LED streetlights was also inaugurated in Barangay Baluntay in March 2021. (Beverly C. Paoyon/SARANGANI PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE)
