Sapu Masla is one of the four barangays that had been added to the identified End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) communities in Sarangani, along with Barangays Tamadang and Nalus in Kiamba, and Datal Bukay in Glan.
Under the General Appropriations Act 2022, the said barangays will receive P4 million each in funding for barangay projects and programs from the Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP).
According to Barangay Captain Moner Calulong, the barangay council under his leadership is set to use the P4 million support for road concreting projects in Sapu Masla.
"Dako kaayo among pasalamat sa atong gobyerno gikan sa probinsya padulong sa atong munisipyo kay tungod sukad sa una hantod karon grabe kaayo ang bubo sa suporta para sa kalambuan sa mga taga Sapu Masla," said Calulong.
The Serbisyo Caravan is part of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP), an umbrella program established by Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's Executive Order No. 70, which institutionalizes the country's whole-of-nation approach.
It was adopted by President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. and continues to aim at the integration of government programs and efforts to actively engage the involvement of the sectors and communities in the far-flung areas of the country.
Ian Jon Clemente of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG XII) said that the problem of insurgency has been faced by the Philippines for decades now.
"This is the very reason why our national government is really putting a highlight in reaching the different far-flung areas to provide government services and livelihood programs to attain sustainable peace," Clemente said.
On behalf of the municipal officials, Mayor Salway Sumbo Jr. acknowledged the efforts and initiatives of the provincial government headed by Governor Pacquiao for providing easy access to government services "especially those who cannot afford to go down at the town proper."
Governor Pacquiao expressed his gratitude for the support of the residents of Sapu Masla and assured to look for additional financial support to be added for the realization of the different barangay projects in the province.
"Himuon nako tanan kauban ang tanang mga opisyal sa probinsya para mahatag ang mga panginahanglan sa atong mga katawhan diri sa Sarangani."
The governor also pledged to highlight the health sector in his administration. "As of today, Sarangani Provincial Hospital is now underway to become a Level II hospital, which means mas ma-accommodate na namo mo sa unsa man inyong medikal nga mga panginahanglan."
Present during the activity were Provincial Administrator Atty. Ryan Jay Ramos, Provincial Information Officer Joana Grace Lapore, Provincial ELCAC spokesperson Lizette Lopez, Vice Mayor Jean Delos Santos, and the rest of the municipal officials of Malapatan.
