Malungon farmers receive P5.5-M farm tools from DA

MALUNGON, Sarangani (October 13, 2016) – The Department of Agriculture(DA) has distributed about P5.5-million worth of farm machineries and irrigation facilities to local farmers group-beneficiaries in an intention to fortify the land tillers’ food production in the municipality.

Mayor Atty. Maria Theresa D. Constantino said the two units of high-powered 4W-Drive tractors, two units DHP irrigation facilities, and three units of collapsible case dryers were delivered by DA late last month. These will be of great use to furnish the demands of local farmers in enhancing their farm produce, specifically of those residing in the far flung villages.

Mayor Constantino has sounded out the unrelenting support of the DA, though the DA 12 field office since the time of her father, erstwhile Mayor Bongbong Constantino, who has chosen farming as the LGU’s flagship program.

The DA support would boost the extensive implementation of her administration’s IHEARD program that focuses in the fortification of infrastructure to create more access roads and bridges for a much gentler delivery of farm produce in the lowlands.

Local agriculturist Nelson Sadang said a unit of the worth P2,640,600 tractor was released for the Malandag Irrigators Association as beneficiary.

Another with a backhoe will serve as a roving land tilling machine to serve local farmers who are found to be qualified of its utilization.

In addition, two units of drip irrigation facilities were also issued for the Alkikan Vegetable Growers Association (ALVEGA) in Barangay Alkikan, while the three other collapsible case dryers were also given to the Buntalan, Kalubihan and Lambalot farmers association in Malungon.
