SP scrutinizes P80-M loan of Kiamba

ALABEL, Sarangani (November 4, 2021) – Board Member Jose Tranquilino Ruiz lll, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Tourism chairperson, raises a query before the plenary during the 38th Regular Session on November 2 at the Capitol gym. It was during the presentation of Board Member Joseph Calanao on the committee report for the ratification of the municipal ordinance of Kiamba relative to the P80M loan agreement of the municipality with Landbank of the Philippines for the acquisition of heavy equipment that Ruiz asked if LGU Kiamba has “any existing loan” to ensure that the LGU is eligible of the loan. In response, Calanao attested that Kiamba is qualified of the loan, hence, the resolution was immediately approved by the Sanggunian. The resolution will serve as the “validation of the reviewing authority, which is the Sangguniang Panlalawigan,” and is one of the necessary requirements needed to be complied for the approval of the loan. ALABEL, Sarangani (November 2, 2021) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon points out the need for the province’s constituents to verify first the information and to only trust facts from credible news sources. He raised this as Dr. Arvin Alejandro, provincial health officer, presented Sarangani’s Covid-19 vaccination average daily accomplishment in a consultative meeting on October 26 at the Capitol gym. In Alejandro’s report, he disclosed that “based on the target number natin to be accomplished until December this year, as of today (October 26) hindi pa umaabot ng 50% ang daily target natin.” According to him, one of the possible causes of the low vaccination turnout is the false information about the effects of the vaccines which caused hesitation among the public to get vaccinated. This problem was also raised by the mayors who were also present during the meeting. Moreover, the creation of mega vaccine sites for Sarangans and assigning additional teams to conduct the vaccination drive at the barangay level were highlighted during the discussion.
