PSC to feature Indigenous Peoples’ Traditional Sports and Games in Sarangani
ALABEL, Sarangani (September 28, 2021) – The Provincial Tribal Council headed by Chairperson Datu Edmund Pangilan (3rd from left) gives Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Charles Raymond Maxey some Sarangani Bay Export-Quality Bangus and Sarangani Upland Rice as a token of appreciation for the commissioner’s visit in Sarangani province on September 24 at the Capitol gym. The council told Maxey that the upland rice is produced by the Indigenous Peoples upland farmers of Sarangani who are also beneficiaries of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) project of the Department of Agriculture. Gov. Solon backs PTC, PSC partnership
ALABEL, Sarangani (September 28, 2021) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon joins via zoom the Municipal Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives (IPMR) and tribal chieftains during the Provincial Tribal Council meeting on September 24 at the Capitol gym. Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Charles Raymond Maxey graced the occasion to discuss with the council the PSC’s proposal of documenting the IP community particularly the Blaan tribe’s demonstration of the traditional tribal sports and games which will be showcased in the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines. Solon thanked Maxey for visiting and choosing Sarangani to be their partner for the project. Commissioner Maxey seeks demo recording of IP traditional sports
ALABEL, Sarangani (September 28, 2021) – Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Charles Raymond Maxey (left) attends the regular meeting of the Provincial Tribal Council on September 24 at the Capitol gym. Maxey, together with Karlo Paolo Pates (right), executive assistant III, presented to the council the PSC’s project proposal on demonstration recording of the province’s Indigenous Peoples’ traditional sports and games. According to Maxey, the objectives of the project include “the preservation of the traditional sports and games of the IPs, promote their rich cultural heritage thru documenting these traditional sports and games.” “We are here to seek permission or consent sa ating council for the participation of the Blaan Indigenous Cultural Community sa ating demo activity na gagawin” which Maxey and his team planned to shoot in Malungon town on October 9-11. Philippine Identification System (PhilSys)
ALABEL, Sarangani (September 28, 2021) - The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) sets a registration center at the Kasfala Hall of the Provincial Capitol on September 23 to cater to Capitol employees in Step 1 and Step 2 registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). Step 1 Registration will be the online registration process followed by Step 2 Registration, which involves capturing the registrant’s biometric data and verifying demographic information. According to PSA, PhilSys aims to usher the nation’s transition into a digital society by providing Filipinos with a valid identification that can be verified both physically and digitally. With PhilSys, access to financial services, social protection, health, education, and other government services will be easier and more convenient as it is also envisioned to make public and private transactions safer, more seamless, and more efficient for Filipinos. PDEA chief dares Sarangani to become drug-free province by 1st quarter 2022
ALABEL, Sarangani (September 23, 2021) - Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Wilkins Villanueva said he will order the PDEA Region 12 to do anti-illegal drugs operation to the remaining 11 reported pushers in Sarangani Province unless they surrender.
“Kung matitigas ang ulo nitong mga pushers na ito, i-operate na agad ito. But if you can give them another chance, then we can get them to Balay Silangan. But if not, I’m ordering RD Region 12 ng PDEA to operate these remaining 11 drug personalities particularly the pushers.”
Sarangani poised to become one of few drug-cleared provinces - PDEA chief

PDEA Director General Villanueva visits Sarangani
ALABEL, Sarangani (September 23, 2021) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon (left) gives USEC Wilkins Villanueva, director general of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), a portrait oil painting on a T'nalak fabric as a token of appreciation on September 20 at the Capitol gym. It was painted by Tboli artist Ronald Tamfalan from Kiamba town. Barangay Drug-Clearing Program pushed
ALABEL, Sarangani (September 23, 2021) - Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Wilkins Villanueva attends the Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council 3rd Quarter Meeting on September 20 at the Capitol gym. Villanueva discussed how drug abuse began in the country and the government’s efforts against it through the Barangay Drug-Clearing Program. “The program is anchored on the cooperation and support of the barangay in cleaning their own community from drug problem, and subsequently reaching a state of self-policing community wherein the barangays themselves deter drug personalities and illegal drug activities from entering or prevailing in the community,” Villanueva said. “At the end of the day, the final battle against illegal drugs will be fought right in front of every doorstep in the barangay,” he added.
