TUPI, South Cotabato (March 23, 2022) – Glan Councilor Victor James Yap Jr., Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Sarangani Federation president, thanks all the councilors of the province for their support and assistance throughout his term as the federation president on March 18 during the PCL Sarangani End-Term Assembly and Capacity Development program at SG Farm. The purpose of the activity was to capacitate and refresh the councilors on their duties and responsibilities as members of the legislative body through seminars conducted during the three-day activity. Some of the topics discussed were the Mandanas Ruling and the local legislative awards implementation. Yap presented the accomplishments of the federation including the recent flooding in Maitum where the PCL Sarangani extended assistance by providing relief goods to the affected families. ALABEL, Sarangani (March 20, 2022) – Dr. Imelda Quiñones (center), chief of hospital II of SOCCSKSARGEN Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DATRC), and Atty. Sunny Rye Nogalo (left), DATRC legal officer, present a plaque of appreciation to Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon (right) on March 18 in recognition of the provincial government’s contribution in donating the 3,000 square meters of 6,707.56 square meters floor area of the center. The DATRC, which was inaugurated in December 2018, sits on a hill at Barangay Kawas, overlooking Sarangani Bay and General Santos City, and adjacent to the Provincial Police Office. It was a project established in order to address the need for more rehabilitation centers for PWUDs or persons who use drugs. ALABEL, Sarangani (March 20, 2022) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon speaks before members of the committee on March 18 during the 1st Quarter Meeting of the Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council, and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council at the Capitol gym. ALABEL, Sarangani (March 20, 2022) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon (3rd from left) and Engr. Samuel Camaganacan (3rd from right), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial director, lead the awarding of plaques of recognition to police officers, jail guards, and provincial security guards on March 18 at the Capitol gym. The giving of recognition to the apprehending officers who were able to recapture runaway prisoners was done during the Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council, and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council 1st quarter meeting. Solon thanked the Philippine National Police for capturing the escaped prisoners but also hoped “na maayos na talaga yung sistema ng management natin sa jail.” “The system has to be put in place, so this cannot happen again,” he added. Solon said he understands the jail “as a transition facility” where every prisoner inside is “waiting for the final decision for them to be moved out, and that actually makes them flight-risk.” Solon also hoped that the assistance given by the local government to the provincial jail such as pouring out funds, staffing the area, and putting double fences and buildings, will help fix the system of the area. ALABEL, Sarangani (March 17, 2022) – Senator Manny Pacquiao talks with Provincial Health Officer Dr. Arvin Alejandro during his visit to the newly-inaugurated East Wing building of the Sarangani Provincial Hospital (SPH) on March 16. The funds used for the construction and expansion of the SPH were initiated by the office of Senator Pacquiao. During the press conference, Pacquiao expressed his joy as his dream to establish a hospital in the province is now realized. The good senator also acknowledged the efforts of Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, Deputy Speaker Congressman Ruel Pacquiao, Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta, and all the provincial officials for sustaining the projects for the welfare of every Sarangan. ALABEL, Sarangani (March 17, 2022) – Senator Manny Pacquiao inspects the newly-inaugurated Sarangani Provincial Hospital (SPH) East Wing building on March 16. Together with Senator Pacquiao were Governor Steve Chiongbian, Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta, and some board members. The construction of the SPH East Wing building has an appropriation fund amounting to a total of P148M for phases one, two, and three which was mobilized through the initiative of Senator Pacquiao, Congressman Ruel Pacquiao, with the help of Governor Solon, Vice Governor De Peralta, and all the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members. The three-story SPH East Wing building can now accommodate imaging services such as ultrasound, x-ray, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). It has also airconditioned wards, private rooms and is equipped with an elevator for a better quality health care service for every Sarangan. MALAPATAN, Sarangani (March 17, 2022) – Some provincial heads, municipal officials headed by Mayor Salway Sumbo Jr., and stakeholders lead the groundbreaking ceremony of the concreting of farm to market (FMR) road from Barangay Daan Suyan to Barangays Upper Suyan and Kinam on March 15. The road concreting project has a total budget of P30M funded through the office of Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon with the assistance of Senator Manny Pacquiao, Deputy Speaker Congressman Ruel Pacquiao, and duly supported by the legislative members of the province headed by Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta. The 950-meter road project will benefit farmers from the far-flung areas of barangays Kinam, Upper Suyan, and Daan Suyan which will also serve as an access road to reach the said barangays' proper. “Sa una, mga weapon truck ra gyud ang pwedeng makaagi sa atong mga dalan diri nga mao ra poy pwedeng makargahan sa mga produkto sa atong mga mag-uuma,” said Sumbo.
