NAPOLCOM Commissioner Leonardo: “Makakalikasan” police needed
MAASIM, Sarangani (July 30, 2022) - NAPOLCOM Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo joined in the mangrove planting activity during his executive visit in Maasim on July 29.
The activity was organized through the partnership of the offices of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Police Regional Office, and National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) in Region 12.
In the event, Leonardo underscored “Makakalikasan” as among the core values of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and said “PNP should really conduct environmental activities like this.”
Sarangani conducts Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support training
ALABEL, Sarangani (July 29, 2022) – Some staff from the Provincial Local Government Unit of Sarangani participated in the Standard First Aid (SFA) and Basic Life Support (BLS)-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training on July 25-29 at the Sarangani Sports Training Center Dormitory Building.
The participants include employees from Dr. Cornelio T. Martinez Memorial Hospital, Glan Medicare Community Hospital, Maasim Municipal Hospital, Provincial Jail, and Provincial Capitol.
PVET conducts Animal Health Care Services in far-flung communities
GLAN, Sarangani (July 29, 2022) – With the collective effort of the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist and the Municipal Veterinarian of Glan, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (PVET) successfully conducted its year-long Animal Health Care Services in far-flung sitios and puroks of Glan Padidu, Sarangani.
The Animal Health Care Services focused on the wellness of cattle and livestock in the community by administering vaccines, vitamin shots, and deworming solutions to the animals.
Gov’t provides assistance to hundreds of displaced workers
MALAPATAN, Sarangani (July 28, 2022) – The provincial government of Sarangani have delivered cash-for-work assistance to more than 400 TUPAD beneficiaries or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers of Malapatan.
The TUPAD program of the Department of Labor and Employment is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers.
In Sarangani, TUPAD qualified beneficiaries were mostly tricycle drivers, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), vendors, and construction workers who were affected by the pandemic and other calamities.
BM Calanao calls for vigilance against Covid-19
ALABEL, Sarangani (July 27, 2022) – “Let us not start again something that can just be prevented by continuous vigilance and never fall into leniency.”
This was the appeal of Board Member Joseph Calanao to the public as he gave an update on the Covid-19 situation of the province.
Sarangani joins simultaneous launching of DOH’s "PinasLakas" campaign
ALABEL, Sarangani (July 27, 2022) – The municipality of Alabel successfully held the national simultaneous launching of the PinasLakas campaign on July 26 at the Alabel municipal gymnasium. The activity was led by the Department of Health (DOH) Region XII in partnership with the Local Government Units of Sarangani and Alabel as part of the vaccination strategies for COVID-19 in the first 100 days of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Sanggunian concurs appointments of new department heads
ALABEL, Sarangani (July 27, 2022) – The 11th Sangguniang Panlalawigan concurred on July 26 during their 3rd Regular Session the appointments of the Provincial Administrator (PA), Provincial Legal Officer (PLO), and Provincial Information Officer (PIO) of the local government of Sarangani.
Vice Governor Elmer de Peralta, presiding officer of the Sanggunian, along with the rest of the members, approved on Tuesday the resolution concurring unanimously the appointments of PA Atty. Ryan Jay R. Ramos, PLO Atty. Jenric Y. Garcia, and PIO Joana Grace Banting-Lapore.
Councilor Alegario of Malungon elected PCL-Sarangani president
GENERAL SANTOS CITY (July 27, 2022) – The Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Sarangani Federation has elected its new set of officers for the term 2022-2025 on July 26 at Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City.
Councilor Evelyn Alegario from Malungon was elected president of the federation; Joel Aton from Alabel as the vice president; Dianne Jade Sambaga of Malapatan - secretary; Hermie Galzote from Alabel - auditor; Freddie Balazon from Maitum - public information officer; and Kyrud Alegado from Glan as the business manager.
Sarangani to intensify revenue-generating mechanisms
ALABEL, Sarangani (July 26, 2022) – The administration of Governor Rogelio “Ruel” D. Pacquiao is set to “intensify our revenue generating mechanisms,” particularly in the Provincial Treasurer’s Office and other concerned departments, Provincial Administrator (PA) Atty Ryan Jay R. Ramos said.
The Local Finance Committee (LFC) of the provincial government held a Budget Call Forum on July 25 to discuss the province’s budget framework in preparation for the budget proposals for the Fiscal Year 2023.
PA Ramos, who chairs the LFC, said the committee discussed “the available estimated revenue or income of the province” and the “requirements for each department in submitting their priority PPAs (projects, programs, and activities) for inclusion in the proposed 2023 budget.”
“At the same time, we will activate our local economic enterprise to help generate more revenue for the province,” Ramos noted.
The priority of Governor Pacquiao is “to really open up Sarangani for more economic investments primarily big-ticket investments,” Ramos pointed out, and to focus also on “community tourism as well as convergence with General Santos City.”
This scheme would help “generate more economic activities” in the province which in effect “will increase the province’s income,” Ramos added.
Members of the LFC who joined the forum include heads of offices in the Capitol, as well as Provincial Budget Officer Leah Duhaylungsod, Provincial Treasurer Eliza Cania, Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Governor Pacquiao prioritizes communities in tourism development
MALAPATAN, Sarangani (July 22, 2022) - In line with the governance direction of Governor Rogelio "Ruel" D. Pacquiao to involve the community in the economic development of the province, the Provincial Tourism Office conducted a Community-Based Tourism (CBT) organization assessment and profiling in Malapatan on July 22.
Provincial Tourism Officer April Marjorie P. Rudes, together with some staff from the municipal tourism office of Malapatan, went to Purok Jolohano in Barangay Sapu Masla to confer with some members of the Jolohano women’s association.
