Mayor Reganit opens Lumba Bugsay contest

MAITUM, Sarangani (January 29, 2019) – Mayor Alexander Bryan Reganit (in stripes) enjoys a photo opportunity with the paddlers as they are getting ready for the Lumba Bugsay contest at Barangay Kiambing on January 24. Pakas Bangsi champion

MAITUM, Sarangani (January 29, 2019 – Lucia Enriquez (2nd from right) from Barangay Old Poblacion is hailed as this year’s champion of the Pakas Bangsi contest during the 12th Bangsi Festival held at Barangay Kiambing on January 24. Enriquez brought home a cash prize of P3,000. Second placer was Imelda Nazarita Pascasio who received P2,000. Josefina Remegio, 3rd placer, was given P1,000. Pakas Bangsi competition

MAITUM, Sarangani (January 29, 2019) – Pakas bangsi or the cleaning and splitting of bangsi (flying fish) in half while removing its insides is one of the livelihood of Maitumians, especially the women or the wives of the fishermen. One of the highlights of the 12th Bangsi Festival is the Pakas Bangsi competition which was held at the shores of Barangay Kiambing on January 24. Bangsi Festival fireworks
