The P3-million water system project aims to alleviate the water shortage of the households of Barangay Malalag and Maitum public market. Gov. Solon alerts towns on deadlier Covid variants

ALABEL, Sarangani (April 20, 2021) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon (left) leads the Covid-19 Executive Meeting on April 19 at the Capitol gymnasium. The meeting with mayors discussed the strengthening and additional Covid-19 measures as there is already a reported case of the new coronavirus variant in the nearby towns of Sarangani. Governor Solon said that each municipality should be aggressive in dealing with the situation. “Kinahanglan mas mag-tinabangay ta especially in informing our people regarding this new strain nga gapaduol sa atoa kay mas grabe ni siya because this is associated with an increased risk of death compared with the Covid nga una nato nabal-an,” said Solon. One of the topics discussed was the S-Pass or the Safe, Swift and Smart Passage which is a travel management system that can facilitate local travel where the public can access information on travel restrictions implemented by the different local government units due to the Covid-19 pandemic in which the local government of Sarangani is planning to adopt. Sinovac for senior citizens

ALABEL, Sarangani (April 20, 2021) – Jessen Masukat, nutritionist-dietitian from the Department of Health (DOH) Regional Office 12, carefully transfers some Sinovac vaccines to a storage unit in Sarangani Healthcare Facility (SHF) on April 15. During the activity, a total of 1,200 vaccines was formally turned over intended for all individuals who belong to group A2 or the senior citizens prioritizing the indigents based on the DOH hierarchy of prioritization for the vaccination. According to Maria Razel Bustria, provincial NIP (National Immunization Program) coordinator, from April 19 to 24, the vaccines received will be administered to all the seven municipalities of Sarangani. The towns of Malungon, Kiamba and Glan have already started the roll out on April 19. Malapatan and Alabel towns are on April 20 and 21, respectively. Maasim and Maitum towns, on the other hand have not set their schedule yet for the inoculation activity. According to Bustria, the turned over Sinovac vaccines were still designed for two doses with 28 days interval. She also clarified that the identification of the vaccinees was done by the municipal social welfare and development offices through Raquel Panal, provincial social welfare and development officer. Mayors step up measures vs Covid

ALABEL, Sarangani (April 20, 2021) – Alabel Mayor Vic Paul Salarda speaks during the Covid-19 Executive Meeting on April 19 at the Capitol gymnasium. Salarda proposed to create a partnership with the hospitals in General Santos City who have the capacity of testing Covid-19 cases. Nutrition governance discussed

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (April 20, 2021) – Representatives from the Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Regional Office 12, members of the Provincial Nutrition Committee headed by Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, and some provincial heads attend the Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF) provincial nutrition governance program executive session for the governor on April 15. The meeting focused on strengthening the commitment of the participants in sustaining the progress on nutrition governance and integration and to create an enabling environment for community participation in government processes in the new normal. The discussion also supplemented additional perspective to the governor in assessing and aligning the overall provincial goal for nutrition. TourTown Glan welcome arch officially opens

Glan unveils roadside mural of history, culture, attractions

GLAN, Sarangani (April 17, 2021) – Rev. Fr. Francisco Bajos (right) and Mayor Vivien Yap (left) lead the blessing and unveiling of the newly-repainted mural at Sitio Cabug, Barangay Kapatan on April 15. The mural, which can be seen along the highway of Kapatan, features the history, culture, and tourist attractions of the municipality painted by the Mag’glang Artists and Mugna Heneral Artists from Gensan and Glan. “From the entrance of our municipality, makita nato ang history sa atong lungsod, inubanan sa atong garbo nga mga tourist spots sa lungsod,” Mayor Yap said. The blessing and unveiling of the mural was in line with the new normal celebration of Glan’s 11th Mahin Festival. Glan inaugurates landmark arch

According to Mayor Yap, the arch, which is “presentable and tourist-friendly” is something that “Glanians can be proud of.” This landmark was constructed in the incumbency of Mayor Vivien Yap and was completed on April 8, 2021.
