Sarangani commemorates feast of sacrifice with Qurban Project 2020
ALABEL, Sarangani (August 10, 2020) – In celebration of the Eid al-Adha or the feast of sacrifice last July 31, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sarangani in partnership with the Halwani Services, Singapore conducted the “Qurban Project 2020” on August 1 and 2.
As part of the feast, the Qurban Project 2020 was carried out by distributing a total of 101 slaughtered goats to Moro communities and frontline workers in Sarangani.
Eid al-Adha is the last of the two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year. The celebration is to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah and his readiness to sacrifice his son, Ismail.
At the very point of the sacrifice, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram, which was to be slaughtered in place of his son. This command from Allah was a test of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness and commitment to obey his Lord’s command, without question.
