Sarangani deploys health and rescue teams for LSIs

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (June 19, 2020) – The Local Government Unit of Sarangani welcomes Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI) on June 17 at the Makar Wharf. There was a total of 13 Sarangans from the batch composed of 84 individuals who arrived via Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) through BRP Gabriela Silang from Metro Manila. Among the LSIs, 13 were from Sarangani, 19 from Gensan, 11 from Sultan Kudarat, seven from North Cotabato, one from South Cotabato, 28 from Maguindanao and two from Lanao del Sur in BARMM, and two from Davao del Sur. Rene Punzalan, provincial disaster risk reduction and management officer, said “ang iba sa kanila ay tatlo hanggang apat na buwan ng stranded and thankful tayo kasi nagkaroon tayo ng sistema dito sa Sarangani in coordination with CDDRMO-Gensan kaya naging smooth yung ating pag-alalay sa ating mga LSIs kasi some of these stranded ay wala talagang pera na pamasahe, so by giving them a warm welcome following the safety health protocols and guidelines ay mabawasan din natin yung hirap na pinagdadaanan nila just to get the chance na makasabay sa mga umuuwi pabalik dito sa atin”. Punzalan said that upon arrival, the LSIs were given food and drinks and were well accommodated from the information gathering up to bringing them to their respective municipal quarantine facility.
