Health Leadership and Governance Program in Sarangani leans to IPs

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (July 31, 2020) – Dr. Arvin Alejandro (right), Sarangani provincial health officer, speaks during the Institutionalization of Health Leadership and Governance Colloquium on July 29 at Greenleaf Hotel. The event primarily focused on the Health Leadership and Governance Program that intends to improve the capacity building action plans for health in various rural areas in the country. The HLGP commenced in 2012 through the United Nations Fund for Population Activities. Sarangani Province was among the 16 pilot provinces given assistance for the improvement of health outcomes based on the baseline assessment. According to Alejandro, Sarangani was selected for its uniqueness because of the presence of the Indigenous People (IP). Through this, Sarangani was able to show its aggravated data on IPs which was one of the major turning points why it was included in the project. (Jake Narte-Joshua John S.
