Champions of health in Sarangani advance Health Leadership and Governance Program

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (July 31, 2020) – (From left) Sarangani Board Member Joseph Calanao; Dr. Arvin Alejandro, provincial health officer; Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta; Board Member Irish Arnado-Beñola; Engr. Ruben Pelones, provincial health office sanitary engineer; and Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon confer during the Institutionalization of Health Leadership and Governance Colloquium on July 29 at Greenleaf Hotel. The officials discussed the different possible health outputs through the Health Leadership and Governance Program to be supplemented in Sarangani. These health outputs will be linked towards achieving the indicators under the Millennium Development Goals that aim to reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, ensure environmental sustainability, and address other health problems. The HLGP was made possible through the partnership of United Nations Fund for Population Activities and Zuellig Family Foundation which primarily focused on improving health conditions in rural communities by providing training programs for local government health leaders, including mayors and municipal health officers.
