Sarangani’s ultra low freezer for Pfizer vax

ALABEL, Sarangani (September 30, 2021) – Dolores Peregrino (center), Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) 12 cold chain manager, demonstrates to Maria Razel Bustria (right), provincial NIP (National Immunization Program) coordinator, the proper handling and storing of Pfizer vaccines. On September 28, a total of 780 vials of Pfizer vaccines were delivered to the Provincial Health Office and Provincial Department of Health Office (PHO-PDOHO) building. According to Bustria, the Pfizer vaccines “was the first batch to arrive” in the province. She said Pfizer “requires a particular way of handling and storing”. One of the requirements to get Pfizer vaccines “is to have an ultra low freezer to ensure its proper storage.” The ultra low freezer was purchased by the Provincial Government of Sarangani through the initiative of Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, Congressman Ruel Pacquiao with the full support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members headed by Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta. The ultra low freezer, which costs P680,000, was delivered to the Provincial Health Office on September 15. It can store up to 4,000 vials of the Pfizer vaccines. Bustria said the ultra low freezer was approved by the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF). “Kapag walang ultra low freezer, walang Pfizer vaccines. Ito yung pinaka-basic requirement natin,” she added. Apart from Pfizer, the Provincial Government of Sarangani also received an additional 4,000 vials of Sinovac vaccines intended for category A4 or the frontline personnel in essential sectors, including uniformed personnel.
