Governor Solon on COVID-19 watch over Sarangani

ALABEL, Sarangani (March 23, 2020) - Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon (right) presides over a consultative meeting on Monday (March 23) of Capitol department heads and Dr. Butch Duldoco (left) of the Department of Health about updates on quarantine measures over coronavirus COVID-19. Also in the meeting at the Capitol conference room were representatives from the Philippine National Police and Philippine Army. The local government unit of Sarangani is implementing a skeletal workforce and work-from-home arrangement for its employees effective March 23. Governor Solon has declared the whole province of Sarangani in a state of general community quarantine prohibiting “non-essential travels to and from the Province of Sarangani.” However, it excludes travels pertaining to “healthcare, peace and order, disaster risk reduction activities and procurement of essential goods,” outside of Sarangani. “Travel to and from work” are likewise exempted. Solon strongly advised in the order for highly-vulnerable people like infants and children below 17 years old, senior citizens, pregnant women and those having pre-existing conditions like hypertension, diabetes mellitus, renal disease, cancer and respiratory ailments to “isolate themselves and just stay home.” (Jake T.
