Sarangani hosts 8th RTF-ELCAC meeting

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (June 29, 2020) – Sarangani Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon hosts the 8th Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) meeting on June 26 at Greenleaf Hotel. Some participants of the meeting attended via Zoom to minimize the number of people in the venue and to maintain the minimum health protocol. During the meeting, Solon, other Local Chief Executives, and regional government agencies showed their support in the implementation of Executive Order Number 70 or the institutionalized whole-of-nation approach in obtaining exclusive and sustainable peace-giving as an effective solution against communist-terrorists. One of the agenda during the meeting was the presentation of highlights of the Indigenous People Empowered as Agripreneurs towards a Collective End (IPEACE) project launch in selected pilot barangays in the region. In Sarangani, the IPEACE program was launched on June 23 at Purok New Bohol, Barangay Alegria in Alabel town. IPEACE was formed to transform Indigenous People (IP) communities into integrated food production sites; develop self-reliant, resilient and sustainable IP communities; attain food security for a balanced and equitable resource distribution and dynamic economic, livelihood and income opportunities to produce sustainable communities, and end insurgency. The program was also in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s objectives to alleviate poverty, address prevailing economic and social issues and develop stable employment conditions in all regions in the country.
