Police officers recognized, Gov. Solon hopes jail system fixed

ALABEL, Sarangani (March 20, 2022) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon (3rd from left) and Engr. Samuel Camaganacan (3rd from right), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial director, lead the awarding of plaques of recognition to police officers, jail guards, and provincial security guards on March 18 at the Capitol gym. The giving of recognition to the apprehending officers who were able to recapture runaway prisoners was done during the Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council, and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council 1st quarter meeting. Solon thanked the Philippine National Police for capturing the escaped prisoners but also hoped “na maayos na talaga yung sistema ng management natin sa jail.” “The system has to be put in place, so this cannot happen again,” he added. Solon said he understands the jail “as a transition facility” where every prisoner inside is “waiting for the final decision for them to be moved out, and that actually makes them flight-risk.” Solon also hoped that the assistance given by the local government to the provincial jail such as pouring out funds, staffing the area, and putting double fences and buildings, will help fix the system of the area.
