MAITUM, Sarangani (June 14, 2022) – Salagbanog/Sarangani Eagle flies back to its forest home at Barangay Upo on June 13. Salagbanog/Sarangani Eagle was rescued in January 2021 after it was found trapped in the thorny rattan vines near Salagbanog Falls in Barangay Ticulab. According to Jayson Ibañez, director for research and conservation of the Philippine Eagle Foundation, Salagbanog/Sarangani Eagle is the second Philippine eagle that was rescued in Maitum. Ibañez added that Salagbanog/Sarangani Eagle was a male juvenile monkey-eating-eagle who is around five years old. When it was rescued, Salagbanog/Sarangani Eagle had a marble lodged between its muscle and skin in its right shoulder. It also had an air-gun pellet visible on the same shoulder closer to the neck.
